Great game, but its greatness is reduced by virtue of being a free2play scheme where you need coins, available in-game for real-world money or absurdly high-bar achievements, to unlock new features. This dubious business model has been well documented, so I will refrain from a detailed critique... but be aware that EA has a rep for being at the forefront of this scumbag trend and PvZ is no different. -Alex
It's great to have this back and it works perfectly on my note. The lack of the Zen garden and mini games is a real let down. I hope EA are planning to add this I'm the future because this adds good replay value and this is only half a game without it -Edgar
For those who can't launch the game, make sure that you don't have Google play emulation on lucky patcher, EA detects it and it won't let you play. Go to toggles and select only inapp services to Google play to make it work -Andrew
Great game on other platforms but as soon as I updated to Android Lollipop it crashes on startup. Uninstall / reinstall has no effect. Running on a Samsung S5. Come on Popcap pull your collective fingers out and get this sorted! Only the free version works! -David

let me explain the story for those who have never played PvZ before. A zombie apocalypse has rocked the neighborhood! But luckily you have the power of the Bloom and Doom Seed Company. You must grow killer plants to protect your lawn, pool, roof, and your house from the incoming zombies! There are 40+ plant types and 25+ zombie types each with their own special abilities.
The goal is to place plants in 5 different rows, and kill the incoming zombies. If they reach your house, you lose. Now, PvZ may seem like a weird concept, but it’s a mix that ends up working together perfectly. At its core, PvZ is more of a castle defense game than a tower defense game requiring a lot of strategy in later levels. There may be 40+ plants to choose from, but you can only have up to nine at your disposal every level. You need to evaluate what zombies are coming next, and pick plants accordingly. But in order to place new plants you need to collect sun. You can always collect sun that falls from the sky or you can build sun-producing plants such as sunflowers. At night-time, sun drops less often from the sky and sunflowers don’t produce sun requiring you to change up your strategy.
There isn’t much else in PvZ on Android besides "Adventure Mode". It lacks the Mini-games from the PC version as well as the Zen Garden (available in PVZ2). But with 50+ levels and upgrades to buy from Crazy Dave, you’ll want to replay the game over and over again.
