"I really like the work they did on Sonic CD, so I was thrilled when the Sonic 1 port was released by the same people. And boy is this ever more than I expected! Improved music, graphics, animation, they really pulled out all the stops. Everything runs so perfectly and the on-screen controls are great. Even better, it works flawlessly with a Wiimote and a compatible Bluetooth app, giving a really solid old-school console experience. I mean, they even fixed Sonic's spring animation (the missing white stripe on his shoes). Really, this is a labor of love. "Sonic was always a nice looking 16-bit game, but tons of minor improvements in this version make it gorgeous: the water effect in the Labyrinth/Scrap Brain 3 zones is a very nice addition! While the controls work fine, one thing I would note is that the physics feel too fast, and make some of the original game's tricks impossible. It doesn't detract from the game enough to give it any less than 5 stars, though." -L N-R
